Here are two fun activities that you can do with your child today. You can one of them in the morning and the other one in the afternoon. Have fun!
Small Group Activity: Making Play dough
Approximate Time: 15 minutes

Materials Needed:
· 1 cup of flour
· ½ cup of salt
· 2 tablespoons of oil
· 2 tablespoons of cream of tartar (Optional)
· 1 cup of water
· Food Color (Optional)
· A cooking pot
|
Vocabulary: Play dough, mix, soft, recipe, ingredients, warm
|
How to start the activity:
· Collect all the ingredients together with your child and say something like “I wonder what you think we can make with all these materials?”
|
What to do in the middle:
· Let the child put the ingredients inside the pot and mix them all together. When the mix is done, tell the child that it is time to put on the fire (In low fire for about 3 minutes). He or she can observe from a safe distance. You can ask open-ended questions like “What do you think is happening?”

How to finish the activity:
· Remove the play dough from the fire. Let it cool out a little bit before you let the child touch it.
· Invite the child to feel the play dough and explore it.
· Keep the play dough in a Ziploc bag to avoid drying.

Approximate Time: 15 minutes

Materials Needed:
● Play dough
● Shape cookie cutters
● Cup (optional)
● Plastic knife & fork (optional)
|
Vocabulary: Play dough, soft, cut, shapes, roll, circle, triangle, square, big, small
|
How to start the activity:
● Provide all the materials, and say something like “I wonder what you can make with all the play dough and shapes?”
|
What to do in the middle:

How to finish the activity:
● Tell your child that after five minutes it's time to clean up
● Tell your child to keep the play dough in a Ziploc bag to avoid it drying
● Keep the shapes or any material in other basket.
