Small Group Activity: Building towers
Approximate Time: 15 minutes

Materials Needed:
· Blocks/plastic/paper cups
|
Vocabulary: build, add more, tall, short, how many
|
How to start the activity:
· I wonder how tall I can build my tower.
|
What to do in the middle:
· Notice what your child is doing to introduce vocabulary as follows:
· You have built a tower.
· I wonder how many blocks you have used?
· My/your tower is tall/short
|
How to finish the activity:
· Give a five minutes warning:
· Clean up together and encourage counting as you put away the blocks.

Small Group Activity: Finger painting
Approximate Time: 15 minutes
|
Materials Needed:
· Tempera or finger paint
· Paint brush
· Plain paper
|
Vocabulary: big and small, how many fingers, 1-2-3-4-5
|
How to start the activity:
· Today we will paint using our hands or using a paint brush.
· (For children who are hesitant put a dot of paint on your hand and then his/hers)
· We will make marks on the paper like this (demonstrate)

What to do in the middle:
· Notice what your child is doing. “You’ve made a hand print. I wonder how many fingers there are.
· Encourage your child to count the fingers
· Notice the size of your hand and her/his
|
How to finish the activity:
· Give a five minutes warning:
· Clean up together and wash hands

Hi Miss Milena, Elise loved the activities yesterday and really enjoyed hearing your voice and seeing baby Lara and the two cats, Nero looks like our cat Billy we had when Freya was in Toddler B.
ReplyDeleteAaaawww I'm glad to hear that! Yes I figured that they will enjoy seeing Lara because when we are at the school they all love to play with her. The cats are characters hehe.
