Small Group Activity: Shapes identification
Approximate Time: 15 minutes

Materials Needed:
(2) cutout circles, (2) cutout squares, crayons, tape
|
Vocabulary: jump, square, circle, color (Simon says)
|
How to start the activity:
We’ll color some shapes today we’ll tape it on the floor and play a game. I wonder what this shape is. Support your child to identify the shapes.

What to do in the middle:
Tape on the floor. Say, “It’s time to jump. Simon says jump on the circle and so on. Take turns.
|
How to finish the activity:
Bring the activity to an end. Tell your child that the shapes will remain on the floor and she/he can continue to play ‘Simon Says’

Small Group Activity: Painting on foil paper
Approximate Time: 15 minutes
|
Materials Needed:
Cotton buds/swipe, red, yellow, green tempera paint, small bowl to put small quantities of the paint
|
Vocabulary: make circles, make marks, different colors, red, yellow, green
|
How to start the activity:
Today, we’ll paint on a shiny paper. We’ll use these colors. I wonder what color this is. Point at each and wait for child’s respond. We’ll use the cotton bud.

What to do in the middle:
Describe what your child is doing. Add vocabulary like, “You’ve used the cotton bud to make circles.”
|
How to finish the activity:
Give 5 minutes warning. Bring the activity to an end and clean up together. Put the work somewhere to dry and wash hands.
