Small Group Activity: Straw Maze Activity
Approximate Time: 10 minutes

Materials Needed:
● Straw
● Pom Pom or craft fluff
● Tape
|
Vocabulary: blow, maze, to the right, center, left, softly, strongly
|
How to start the activity:
● Collect the materials with your child
● Place tape down onto the floor, design your tape in a maze formation.
|
What to do in the middle:
● Tell your child that today you are going to blow through the straw. Place the pom pom on the floor at the start of your maze, then let your child blow through their straws and blow their pom pom through the maze. Ask open ended questions like, “I wonder when you blow hard/ strong what will happen with the pompom?
Extension:
● You can time your son /daughter and see how long it takes to make it through the maze.

How to finish the activity:
● Give the child a 5 minutes warning.
● The child might ask to watch the video again. You can ask him/her why he/she liked the video.

Small Group Activity: Good Night, Gorilla
Approximate Time: 10 minutes

Materials Needed:

Vocabulary: Zookeeper, Good night Gorilla, elephant, lion, hyena, Giraffe, armadillo, flashlight, keys.
|
How to start the activity:
● Tell your child that today we are going to watch a video about Gorilla who set the animal free. I wonder what happened.
|
What to do in the middle:
● Play the video one time.
● When the video finishes, ask the child open/ended questions about the story like “What was the gorilla doing? How did the gorilla open the cages? What does the zookeeper say to each animal? I wonder what the mouse was holding?

How to finish the activity:
● Give the child a 5 minutes warning.
● The child might ask to watch the video again. You can ask him/her why he/she liked the video.
