Good Morning my dear Toddlers!

I can't wait to see you today at 12:30 p.m. for our Morning Greeting!

Today we also have Small Group for:

Group #3 (2:00 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.): Elise, Vincent, Haya and Tamim.
Group #4 (2:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.): Khalid, Mohammed T., Ayla and Jenna.

We will work with Shaving Foam (Shaving Cream). I recommend you have an apron available for your child and a clean surface to work on.

Thank you!

Small Group Activity: Marshmallow Playdough

Approximate Time: 10 minutes
Materials Needed:
      5 large marshmallows
      3 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoon coconut oil (you can use any oil)
      Food coloring (optional)
Vocabulary: fluffy, soft, texture, mold, press, touch, sticky

How to start the activity:
Provide the child with the materials and tell him/her that today we will make different kinds, texture of playdough.
What to do in the middle:
Ask your child to add all the ingredients together and microwave 30-40 seconds. Then ask your child to mix it all and stir the dough. While stirring, keep adding cornstarch at a time until it’s not sticky. Then ask questions like, how is the texture of this playdough? How it feels? Observe and acknowledge their work.
How you can extend the activity: Mold the playdough and make numbers, shapes, and letters out of it.
How to finish the activity:
Give the child a 5 minutes warning.
Tell the child that it is time to clean up. Let him/her help you to put the materials away.
Keep the playdough in a zip bag, it won’t last long as the regular playdough.

  • Remind him/her what he/she said and help him/her follow the plans.
How you can extend the activity: Go where the child is playing and extend his/her play by imitating his/her game and participating without imposing or interrupting him/her.
How to finish the activity:
  • Give the child a 5 minutes warning.
  • Tell the child that it is time to clean up. Let him/her help you to put the materials away.
