Tuesday, April 21st> Activities

Good Morning my dear Toddlers!

I hope to see you all during our Morning Greeting at 12:30 p.m.

Tomorrow Wednesday, we will not have Morning Greeting, instead we will have our group meeting at 1:30 p.m. We will have our "Mother's Day Concert."

Child's dress code: White shirt!

Small Group Activity: Cutting Fruits

Approximate Time: 10 minutes

Materials Needed:
Available soft fruits or vegetables at home (Banana, strawberries, cucumbers, and more)
      Cutting board
      Plastic knife
Vocabulary: Cut, sharp, hold, safety, pieces, half, whole.

How to start the activity:
Wash the fruits and tell the child that today he/she will help you cut some fruits.
What to do in the middle:
Talk to the child about knife safety.
Guide him/her how to hold the fruit and the knife to cut.
Observe how the child cuts the fruits or vegetables. Acknowledge the child’s actions.
How you can extend the activity: Ask the child what is the beginning sound of the fruit or veggies that he/she is cutting. Think about another fruit or veggies that starts with the same sound. If this is too advanced, you can ask about other fruits or veggies that are the same color.
Extension: make a fruit salad while talking about the different tastes like sweet, sour, bitter

How to finish the activity:
Give the child a 5 minutes warning.
Tell the child that it is time to clean up. Let him/her help you to put the materials away.
Now it’s time to enjoy the delicious fruits or veggies!
