Small Group Activity: Match Shapes
Approximate Time: 10 minutes

Materials Needed:
● Cut out shapes(square, circles, triangles)
● Draw the same shapes on a big paper
|
Vocabulary: square has 4 equal sides, circle goes all the way round,
Triangle has three sides, match
|
How to start the activity:
● Say something like; My shapes are all mixed up. I wonder where the square goes.
|
What to do in the middle:
● Go through the shapes and match them helping your child identify each shape. You can do it more than one time. Describe the shape attributes.
Extension:(to further challenge the child you may add the following steps)
● Encourage your child to do tally marks on an A4 paper to each shape then compare how many shapes he/she matched to each shape.

How to finish the activity:
● Give 5 minutes warning before ending the activity
● Help your child identify a place where you can keep the shapes to use at a later time.

Small Group Activity: Follow the leader
Approximate Time: 10 minutes
|
Materials Needed:
● Space
|
Vocabulary: march, march, march, jump, jump, jump, turn, turn, turn, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle
|
How to start the activity:
● Start the activity by singing a simple, familiar song to the tune of (‘Row, Row, Row, Your Boat’) March, march, march your feet as we sing this song. March your feet, march your feet, as you sing this song.

What to do in the middle:
● Ask your child to show you another way to move. Give your child time to think, decide, and display a movement and then copy and name their idea. I have given ideas above in the vocabulary section
Extension:(to further challenge the child you may add the following steps)
● You can challenge your child to sing in a fast or slow motion
● You can challenge your child to change the first letter from the word to his/her first letter or any family member Like the word Jump, you can say if the name is Reem then you will pronounce it Rump,Rump..

How to finish the activity:
● Let your child try one more idea that you do together before letting them know what will be happening next in your routine.

- Circle colorful cereal
- Old water bottles
- Tape
- Pom Poms
- Straw

- For Lemon Cookies: Lemon, maple syrup and almond flour
- For PB Banana Cookies: 3 bananas, peanut butter and oats
- Ice Cubes
