Sunday, April 26th > Activities

Good Morning my dear Toddlers!


I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I will see you at 12:30 p.m. for our Morning Greeting.

At 2 p.m. we will have our Small Group #1: Ahmad, Saud, Leia and Basma.

At 2:30 p.m. we will have our Small Group #2: Reema, Sama, Mohammed A. and Jawaher. 

You will be an apron, shaving cream/foam and clean surface.

Small Group Activity: Sorting and Classifying                         
                                     
Approximate Time: 10 minutes
Materials Needed:
  • Two kinds of beans different size and color
  • 2 cups
Vocabulary: sort, white beans, small, big, hard beans, count.
How to start the activity:
·      Provide the child with the materials and tell him/her that Today I will show you different kinds of beans, they are mixed, would you like to sort them!
What to do in the middle: 
Observe how the child sort the beans and how they separated the beans into two different cups. 

Ask open ended questions such as “I wonder how many brown beans you collected/sorted? how is the texture of the beans and the colors?
How you can extend the activity: Let the child draw tally’s on how many beans he/she collected or sorted.
How to finish the activity: 
Give the child a 5 minutes warning.

Tell the child that it is time to clean up. Let him/her help you to put the materials away.  



Small Group Activity: Does A kangaroo Have A Mother?                
                                     
Approximate Time: 10 minutes
Materials Needed:
Vocabulary: lion, mother, giraffe, penguin, swan, dolphin, sheep, Kangaroo, yes.
How to start the activity:
·      Today we will read a book about animals and then ask this question, I wonder does A Kangaroo have a mother?
What to do in the middle: 
Talk about other animals in the story and ask if they all have a mother?

I wonder What is the name of a baby lion: Cub, Kangaroo: joey, Giraffe: calf, sheep: lamp
How you can extend the activity: Let the child draw his/her favorite animal and his mother or a family member with his/her mom.
How to finish the activity: 
Give the child a 5 minutes warning.
Tell the child that it is time to clean up.
