Sunday, April 19th > Activities

Good morning my dear Toddlers!!!

I cannot wait to see you all at 12:30 for our Morning Greeting. My normal daily message will be substitute for the daily Morning Greeting Live Session. 

Today also from 2 to 2:15 p.m. we will have our first small group time: Ahmad, Saud, Leia and Basma.

Our second group today will be from 2:30 to 2:45 p.m. : Reema, Sama, Mohammed A and Jawaher.

For our small group time, we will work with the book: We Are Going On a Bear Hunt. Please have a paper and markers next to you. Thank you!

Small Group Activity: Walking water experiment
 Approximate Time: 10 minutes 
Materials Needed:
      Small transparent jars or cups
      Paper towels/ Kitchen roll
      Food coloring
      Water
Vocabulary: colored water, water walk along, paper towels, mix,change, turned into, wet,dry.

How to start the activity:
      Get you supplies ready with your child
      Ask your child to fill the jars with water, then ask your child questions, I wonder what will happen with the water when you pour a few drops of food coloring (red, blue and yellow or any other colors.
What to do in the middle: 
      Ask them questions like if you put the paper towel inside the jar, what will happen? If you put it on the blue/red jar what will the white paper towel will turn?
Extension:
      You may challenge your son/daughter to recall what happened with the experiment.
     They can mix colors by pouring one colored water to another color?
How to finish the activity: 
      Give the child a 5 minutes warning then clean up together. 




Small Group Activity: Balance, visual motor control
 Approximate Time: 10 minutes 
Materials Needed:
      Sticky notes/cards
      Wall/door
Vocabulary: Balance, stand, spot, throw, any numbers.
How to start the activity:
      You may prepare the sticky notes/cards and draw on its shapes or colors.
What to do in the middle: 
      Tell your child you may stand on a spot, and throw the ball at whatever colors, shapes then you call out what the ball touched, or let them throw the bowl at whatever you call out.
Extension: 
      You may challenge them to stand on one-foot, high kneeling or half kneeling.
      You can have them do overhand, underhand, two handed over head.
How to finish the activity: 
      Tell your child you will do it one last time and then you will do what is next in your routine.
